How Am I To Love You

from Benjamin by Brooks Strause

/

lyrics

I met your soul with wonder, there was fire overhead. The house was so familiar. I tried holding what I said, but I learned a while ago that I don't like it when I try. How am I to love you, like the clouds filling the sky. I come to golden pillars with my future just beyond. In solitude I stutter, there is nothing that I want. I feel it in my spirit something deep is coming soon. How am I to love you, like an eclipse of the Moon. Sometimes my heart is more than I can carry, but it is no burden. I haul it gladly when I can. With veils of change to go through, as labored as it is, I wish just to have seen you, you who covet none of this. I wait with patience for the day that my Work will be done. How am I to love you, like the setting of the Sun.
