Love

from Benjamin by Brooks Strause

lyrics

Now I remember lying there with my lips against her hair. Not wishing to be anywhere but on that cold, hard floor. My glad heart, having met its twin, was at peace and in love again. I don't think I have ever been so thoroughly tired and sore. This old Fool now is coming around, did you know? But, my love, we're just making it up as we go. One thing that I learned from the turning world is true love doesn't need. It is beyond fear or greed. The most difficult of lessons that was ever taught to me, is if you love her set her free, that that is how love ought to be. Do you want to stop the hourglass's stream of sand? I've never seen intention ever go as it was planned. We know that this is more complex than we can understand. I've had enough of crushing pretty flowers in my hand. Now I am careful and try to be kind. I meet emotion with my mind. There was a time when I was blind. Thank Goddess I'm not anymore. Here is my heart it is glad it is yours. We are free.
